This course EXT312 has two modules: module 1 and module 2.
Module 1 provides you with requisite background on the policy frameworks that have guided the delivery of extension in Malawi. Specifically, it presents history of the evolution and transformation of extension policies in Malawi, shifts in extension approaches and national strategies which have governed extension service in three eras from colonial era, through independence to the multi-party democratic government.

Module 2 presents you the difficult challenges that extension programme planners face in developing programmes that are responsive to the needs of rural communities and farmers. It goes further to provide innovative ways to overcome these challenges by looking at different programme development ideas and approaches, analysing how they function in practice, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.
