The module equips students with biotechnology theories and techniques in animal breeding. Topics covered include breed development and improvement; antagonistic relationship between productive and adaptive traits; selection for higher productivity; utilization and conservation of genetic resources and introduction to molecular genetics. It then introduces the general line of thought for animal improvement via analysis of genomes.
